The Watch Dog
Sometimes the way home is through the past you tried to leave behind.
Garrett “Rett” Baker has spent years running from the people he hurt, the family he pushed away, and the hometown he never wanted to see again. But when life forces him back to Tennessee, a familiar four-legged spirit begins leading him toward the one thing Rett never expected to find: a second chance.

About The Watch Dog
Garrett “Rett” Baker has taken one too many wrong turns.
With nowhere else to go, he finds himself back in the small Tennessee town he left behind years ago — along with broken relationships, painful memories, and a family that isn’t exactly thrilled to see him.
Rett’s plan is simple: move into his late grandmother’s house, save some money, and get out of town as quickly as possible.
Then he starts seeing Brownie.
Brownie was Rett’s childhood dog — one of the few truly comforting parts of a difficult past. There’s only one problem: Brownie has been gone for years.
The more Rett sees the mysterious spirit of his old dog, the more convinced he becomes that Brownie is trying to lead him somewhere.
Unfortunately, that somewhere keeps bringing him face-to-face with people he’d rather avoid.
Especially Cori Davis.
Cori was the redheaded girl Rett bullied when they were younger. Now she’s grown into a feisty single mother with a powerful singing voice, a son named Lyric, and absolutely no reason to trust the man who made part of her childhood miserable.
But as Rett is forced to confront the damage he’s caused, the mistakes he’s made, and the person he’s allowed himself to become, something begins to change.
Brownie may be leading Rett toward Cori — but the real journey is toward forgiveness, accountability, and the possibility that even someone who has spent years getting everything wrong can still choose to do better.
The Watch Dog is an emotional romance about redemption, unconditional love, acceptance, family, and the sometimes unexpected ways we find our way home.

Behind The Watch Dog
The Watch Dog was Sandy Lo’s fourth novel and marked a departure from the celebrity-driven worlds of Lost In You and the early Dream Catchers books.
For this story, Sandy relocated from New York to Nashville, immersing herself in Tennessee while writing a novel set in a fictional small town outside Music City.
Music still plays an important role through Cori and her dreams, but at the center of the novel is Rett — a deeply flawed character who has spent years pushing people away and avoiding responsibility for the hurt he’s caused.
Rather than beginning with a traditional romantic hero, The Watch Dog asks whether someone who has made serious mistakes can recognize the person they’ve become, take responsibility, and genuinely change.
And then, of course, there’s Brownie.
Rett’s childhood dog adds a light paranormal element to the story while serving as a connection to some of the only happy memories from his past. As Brownie mysteriously reappears and begins guiding Rett around town, the dog becomes part guardian angel, part compass, and part reminder of the unconditional love Rett has spent most of his life pushing away.
The result is a romance, but also a story about family, forgiveness, self-worth, acceptance, and deciding that your past doesn’t have to determine the person you become next.
