Lit Recipes: Peanut Butter Cheerio Bars
Since I have always loved to cook and there are many mentions of food/drink throughout the Dream Catchers book series, I decided to start a recipe series called “Lit Recipes”. I will be bringing to life some of the recipes from not just the Dream Catchers books, but all of my books — and who knows, maybe some guest authors will share their characters’ recipes as well!
- Book It First Appeared In: While this cereal bar wasn't discussed in Dream Catchers (Book 1), a peanut butter sandwich with Cheerio's was.
- Character That Made It: When Jordan was asked about his favorite food by Haley, he told her his mom made him peanut butter sandwiches laced with Cheerio's because he didn't like jelly.
- Other Fun Facts: It has been stated in other books in the series how much Jordan loves peanut butter and also that he is allergic to banana.
Peanut Butter Cheerio Bars
9 Servings. Cook Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
- 3 cups of Cheerio's
- 3/4 cup Peanut Butter
- 1/2 cup Mini Marshmallows + extra to stir in after the rest is melted
Method:
- Place peanut butter and marshmallows in a pot or double boiler on the stovetop over low-medium heat.
- Stir gently and continuously until peanut butter and marshmallows are melted together. (Be careful not to burn.)
- Turn off heat and add the Cheerio's to mixture and stir until coated.
- Stir in additional marshmallows and pour mixture into a square or rectangle pan. Spread and press down with spoon and let cool completely before cutting and serving.
